What people come in with
Most of what comes through the door is mechanical: restricted joints and the soft tissue around them. The exam establishes where yours fits, and care is matched to what it finds.
Back pain
The most common reason people come in. A dull ache that sits behind everything you do, or a deep spasm that arrived after lifting.
Neck pain and stiffness
A neck that locks up overnight, or one that has been guarded for months from desk work and sleep positions.
Sciatica and radiating pain
A deep ache that travels from the low back into the hip and down the leg, often sharper sitting and easier walking.
Headaches and migraines
Headaches that start at the base of the skull and climb, and tend to arrive on the days the neck is most restricted.
Shoulder, hip, and knee pain
Joint pain away from the spine, including the restrictions that build on one side over years of favoring it.
After a car accident
Neck and back pain that surfaces in the days after a crash, once the adrenaline has gone and the stiffness sets in.
Training and sports injuries
The same joint that keeps complaining, and the strain that builds when training volume climbs faster than recovery.
Active duty, veterans, and dependents
A short drive from MCAS Miramar, with a military rate and no referral or authorization to arrange first.
The full list of what we treat, including prenatal, pediatric, and family care, is on the chiropractic services page.
Very good chiropractor, close to home, extremely cordial. I recommend to family and friends.

What a first visit includes
One visit, start to finish, with no referral to arrange before it and nothing to file after it. There is more in our post on a first visit to the chiropractor.
History and exam
What happened and what makes it worse, then a movement exam covering which joints are restricted and what the muscles are guarding.
A plain explanation
What the exam found, in language you can repeat to someone else, and what care would involve before any of it begins.
Care begins
When care is the right call, it starts that visit rather than at a second appointment booked for later in the week.
What to do next
What helps between visits and when to come back. Most first visits run about twenty minutes.
First visits are scheduled. Call and a time is held for you, often the same day, with less of your visit spent waiting. Book online and we'll confirm your time. No paperwork needs to be sent ahead either way. After your first visit, walk in whenever we're open.
Who treats you, and how
Dr. Yossi Stein sees patients himself, from the first exam onward. The chiropractor who examines you is the one who treats you. Your history does not get re-explained to someone new, and care adjusts as the presentation changes.
He worked as an EMT and a ski patroller before chiropractic. The practice has been in San Diego since 1991, when his father, Dr. Richard Stein, opened it.
Chiropractic adjustment
A precise, controlled movement that restores motion to a restricted joint and takes pressure off the nerves and muscles around it. Gonstead technique, with instrument-assisted input when a lighter approach suits better.
Joint mobilization
Graded movement for a joint that is inflamed or guarded. It restores motion without asking the body to do too much at once, which suits acute presentations.
Active Release Technique (ART)
Soft tissue work addressing the restrictions that build in the muscles around a joint. For recurring pain it is often the part adjustments alone leave behind.
Dr. Stein truly stands out in having great knowledge and amazing skill set in his practice. He also takes the time to listen and explain everything clearly. My pain has significantly improved, and I always leave feeling better than when I walked in. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a chiropractor who genuinely cares about their patients' health and well-being!

What people ask before coming in
Is this the right place for what I have?
Most of what we see is mechanical rather than structural, and those presentations respond well to conservative chiropractic care. A first visit establishes whether yours fits that picture.
Some situations call for hospital-level evaluation first. If you're unsure, call and we'll help you route correctly.
Do I need X-rays or records first?
No. Bring imaging or records if you already have them. If the exam points to needing more, we'll tell you plainly.
What if this isn't something you should treat?
If the exam shows this isn't something we should be treating, there's no charge for the visit.
Yossi made me feel totally at ease. He's incredibly knowledgeable, asked thoughtful questions, and really focused on finding the root cause of my discomfort instead of just doing a quick fix. He was gentle, professional, and genuinely cares about helping people feel better.

How many visits will this take?
It depends on what the exam finds and how things respond. Care is reviewed as you go rather than set as a fixed number of visits at the start. Some people come in for one problem and stop, and others keep a regular visit.
What does it cost?
$150a first visit: the exam, what it found, and care the same visit when care is the right call
Follow-up and membership rates are on the how we help page. We don't bill insurance. HSA and FSA cards are accepted.
Start with one visit
If you have been working around this, adjusting how you sit and lift and sleep, you have done enough of that. Call and we'll have a time ready, or book online and we'll follow up to confirm.
