Specialized Care
Prenatal Chiropractic in Clairemont
Pregnancy-specific chiropractic care from the first symptoms through delivery. One doctor, every trimester, no appointment needed.
What We Treat
Pregnancy changes how your body moves, loads, and rests. These are the presentations we see most often.
Lower Back & SI Joint Pain
As your center of gravity shifts forward, the low back and sacroiliac joints carry more load and often start to ache or lock up. Care focuses on joint motion and the surrounding muscle patterns built around the shift.
Pelvic Alignment & Baby Positioning
A balanced pelvis creates more room for the baby to move and settle head-down. We use pregnancy-specific technique to address pelvic restriction, including for patients navigating breech presentation concerns.
Sciatica & Hip Pain
A deep ache down the leg or into the hip during pregnancy often traces to sciatic nerve irritation as the pelvis adapts. Gentle, targeted adjustments take pressure off the nerve without medication.
Neck Pain, Headaches & Shoulder Strain
Postural changes, broken sleep, and hormonal shifts load the upper body. Care addresses restricted neck and upper-back joints that drive cervicogenic headaches and shoulder tightness.
Round Ligament & Abdominal Discomfort
Sharp pulling near the belly or hips as the uterus grows is common mid-pregnancy. Gentle hands-on work addresses the ligaments and surrounding soft tissue supporting your growing uterus.
Posture, Balance & Mobility
As your frame adapts week by week, posture and balance shift with it. Care keeps joints moving well and helps you stay active and comfortable through the trimesters.
Pregnancy Care, Every Trimester
Prenatal care is one of the most consistent reasons patients walk through the door at Stein Chiropractic. The practice has served San Diego families since 1991, and the clinical focus has stayed the same the whole time.
Prenatal patients get the same attention from the first trimester through delivery. The work is consistent: keep the pelvis moving well, keep joints loading evenly, keep the patient comfortable as the body adapts.
Every visit is with Dr. Yossi Stein. There is no team of rotating providers. The chiropractor who adjusts you in the first trimester is the same chiropractor who adjusts you in the third, and the same one your partner and kids see afterward.
How We Treat Prenatal Patients
Each technique is adapted to the trimester and to what the body presents with that day.
Prenatal Chiropractic Adjustments
Gentle, pregnancy-specific adjustments with modified positioning for the trimester. Care restores joint motion in the spine and pelvis without forceful technique, and continues through postpartum recovery.
Pelvic Balancing for Pregnancy
Targeted, gentle work to address restriction in the pelvis, sacrum, and surrounding ligaments. Better pelvic motion supports comfort through pregnancy and improves how the pelvis loads as delivery approaches.
Soft Tissue & Mobility Work
Hands-on work on the hips, low back, and mid-back addresses tight muscle patterns built from the postural load of carrying a baby. The goal is to keep you moving well as your body adapts.
Understanding Prenatal Chiropractic Care
Pregnancy reshapes how the body loads. The pelvis widens, the low back deepens, and balance shifts week by week to accommodate the growing baby. Relaxin is secreted in larger volumes to prepare the ligaments for delivery. Half to three-quarters of women develop low back or pelvic pain during pregnancy.
Most of the patients Dr. Stein sees come in once symptoms first appear, often in the second trimester. A recent patient at 18 weeks walked in with low back pain radiating into sciatic-pattern discomfort, a common presentation as the pelvis accommodates the growing uterus. More on pregnancy pelvic pain patterns.
Stretching, Strengthening, and Spinal Hygiene
Most patients ask if they should just stretch more. The honest answer is usually no. Relaxin already loosens the ligaments, and research consistently shows measurable increases in joint laxity from the first trimester. The body does not need more range of motion. It needs stability.
That is where chiropractic care fits. Dr. Stein uses gentle, pregnancy-specific technique, including pelvic balancing in the Webster tradition, performed in side-posture and modified to tolerance. The work addresses joint restrictions that build around a changing center of gravity.
The most recent systematic review found the evidence for chiropractic care in pregnancy-related low back and pelvic pain to be favorable. A prospective cohort study reported 73% of pregnant patients experienced good or excellent outcomes.
Patients under consistent care often describe the experience as smoother than a previous pregnancy without it. Dr. Stein calls this spinal hygiene.
What to Expect
A first visit starts with an assessment of where the body is right now — what's moving well, what's restricted, what's loading too much. Adjustments are performed in side-posture or whatever position is comfortable for the trimester, and modified to your tolerance throughout.
Most patients leave a first visit with a clearer sense of what is driving the discomfort, what care will address, and how often to return across the months ahead. Care proceeds at the pace your body is ready for.
Real Patients. Real Relief.
From patients who have walked through pregnancy and beyond with Dr. Stein.
"The best chiropractor! I got a recommendation from a friend for a good chiropractor for pregnancy. My goals were to feel good and to make enough space for baby to position with the head down (vs. first baby that was breech). Now my baby is head down and each visit is a life saver for me, I can function good and minimal back pain. Highly recommended for anyone who wish to feel better!"
"Dr. Stein was extremely helpful, informative, and made me feel at ease immediately. I came in in a lot of pain and I'm feeling so much better after a few treatments."
"I want to come to Dr. Stein's office every day to be adjusted!"
